Arabic Music, The Industry
Arab music started in the early 5th and 6th centuries. The Music back then was important to the people as it cultivated the mystique of exorcists and magicians.
Today arabic music is mostly influenced by the major artists such as Amr Diab, Nancy Ajram, Elissa, Samira Said and many more. These artists implement current pop within their music to create a likeable melody and beat for young fans of current music.
Elissa is one of the most famous arab music artists. Her albums are 1999: Baddi Doub, 2000: W’akherta Ma’ak, 2002: Ayshalak, 2004: Ahla Donya, 2006: Bastanak, 2008: Ayami Beek and 2009: Tsadaq Bmein.
Today, the music industry is struggling to make a big come back since piracy is such a big issue. File sharing and p2p have hijacked the worlds music industry, and there is’nt much that can be done about it. Sales have dramatically dropped for many artists and continue to til now.
Websites such as 6rb and 6rbtop are putting arab music companies in danger, and out of business, since these sites have shown up on the web, the music industry has slowly been dying down. Record Labels are losing massive amounts of potential sales because of peer to peer websites such as the pirate bay and isohunt and many others.
Websites which don’t allow file sharing are bezmara.net and streamarabia.com. They are great sites for people looking for news or just reviews on albums or the top artists currently selling albums. These sites are mainly focused on current غاني mp3.
Although the site Bezmara.net lets users register for an account, then pwrite artiscles relating to popular music, top music and share some forums around with others. Websites such as this one are great examples of sites trying to keep the arabic music industry stay alive.
