Is it really harder for an adult to learn how to play an instrument?

NO. It depends on your input. If you practice the way you are supposed to, there should be no problem in learning.
i say it is only because when you’re younger you can spend a lot more time with it and you get a lot more encouragement. when you’re older you have to go to work, deal with the real world.
i’m twenty four and i taught myself the piano and the flute when i was younger. it took me no time at all. i’m going on my third year now of learning the guitar and i’m still struggling.
No, it’s nonsense. The only criterion is the amount of passion you have.
